Sisterhood. Scholarship. Service to Humankind
The Tau Rho chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was established in 2013 on USI's campus.
The Tenacious Tau Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is just 1 of over 1,000 chapters worldwide. This illustrious organization was the first sorority of the “Divine 9“ and was founded in 1908 at Howard University. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was first founded based on the principles of sisterhood and education. Today, our organization's mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to ALL mankind. We pride ourselves on excellence through sustainable service by volunteering, hosting events for the community, and working with the youth in our signature program #CAP.

Alpha Kappa Alpha's Mission
